A utility for the UNA Watch

Ahoy

An anchor alarm and a nap timer for a small boat. Drop the anchor and it buzzes if you drag out of your circle or lose GPS; start a nap and it buzzes when it is up.

Three screens

AHOY

The screen it opens on. It lists what is running and says whether BACK will keep watch or end the app. Hold SELECT here to end everything and leave; tap DOWN to step through to the anchor and the nap.

The anchor

Hold SELECT where the hook goes down. It draws the alarm circle with your boat's swing inside it, and buzzes, harder each time, if the boat leaves the circle or the GPS loses the sky.

The nap

Tap SELECT to start. It counts down in big digits, buzzes when the nap is over and counts your sleeps. One tap resets it, or says you are awake, which turns it off.

Keeping watch

  • Both keep running after you leave the app, and the watch brings Ahoy back to the screen when it needs you.
  • Every screen says what the other is doing: NAP OFF or NAP 13:42 under the anchor, ANCHOR UP or ANCHOR DOWN under the nap.
  • No fix for five minutes while anchored is itself an alarm: a watch that cannot see the sky is not watching.
  • The GPS held all night costs battery, so the info page shows the battery when the anchor went down and now.
  • Radius, GPS interval, nap length and units are in the settings, and the screen light stays off on a wrist raise unless you choose otherwise.

Experimental, and an aid rather than a safety device: keep your anchor alarm on the plotter and your watch schedule. A sleeping wrist may not wake.
